LinkedIn text formatter
LinkedIn has no formatting button. Convert your text to bold, italic, and more using unicode, then copy and paste.
Done here? The hard part is having something to post. RightHandMan.io writes a post for every page you've published.
What is the bold & italic text?
LinkedIn does not give you a bold or italic button. The workaround is unicode, which is a set of alternate characters that look bold or italic but are really just different symbols. This formatter converts your text into those styles so you can copy the result straight into a post.
It works fully in your browser with no AI. Type your text, pick a style, and copy the formatted version. The conversion is instant and nothing leaves your device.
How to use it
- Type or paste the text you want to style into the box.
- Choose a style such as bold, italic, or another available look.
- Copy the converted text and paste it into your LinkedIn post or profile.
Use it sparingly, and here is why
Unicode formatting is a clever trick, but it has a real cost. Screen readers often cannot read these characters properly, so a bold unicode word can come out as nonsense or get skipped entirely for someone using assistive technology. A whole post in fancy characters is close to unreadable for them.
The practical rule is restraint. A single bolded phrase to mark a section, or one styled word for emphasis, is fine. Styling every line, or running your whole post through it, hurts both accessibility and readability for everyone else too.
It is best for short emphasis, like a mini heading inside a longer post or a key term you want to stand out. Treat it as seasoning, not the meal. If a post needs heavy formatting to be readable, the post probably needs better structure and shorter lines instead, which you can check in a preview before publishing.
Who it's for
People use the formatter to add a bit of visual structure to posts and profiles that LinkedIn otherwise keeps flat. It is a finishing touch on a draft, and it sits well alongside the polished posts RightHandMan generates for company pages out of a brand's existing website content, where a single bolded line can make a ready-made post easier to skim. To see how the styled text reads in context, drop it into the post preview.
Frequently asked questions
Is this real bold text or a trick?
It uses unicode characters that look bold or italic but are technically different symbols. LinkedIn has no real formatting button, so this is the standard workaround. It displays correctly in the feed for most readers.
Will it hurt accessibility?
It can. Screen readers often misread or skip these characters, so use it sparingly. A single emphasised word or short heading is fine. A whole post in styled text is hard for assistive technology to handle.
Does it work in my headline and About section too?
Yes, you can paste the styled characters into most LinkedIn fields including the headline and About. Just watch your length, since the styled characters still count toward limits you can check in the character counter.
Why does some styled text not show up right?
A few apps and older devices do not render every unicode style, so a word may appear as plain boxes. Stick to the common bold and italic styles for the widest support, and preview before you post.
